"The brilliant, brilliant Bedlam. Not only does it boast one of the cheapest watering holes in Edinburgh, serving hearty soups during the day, but its programme consistently strikes a winning balance between crowd-pleasers and risk-takers."
— Fringebiscuit

Open every day of the Festival, 10.30am-2am, and 12pm-2am on Sundays, The Fat Cat Café owes its name to the Bedlam's old mascot, the infamous black and white tomcat lovingly known as the "Fat Cat".

Its walls covered in Fringe history, the café is a vivid reminder of the Bedlam's longstanding tradition at the Edinburgh Fringe, boasting a comfortable atmosphere that allows the visitor to experience the Fringe in the company of the Bedlam's performers and venue team. Serving refreshments, snacks, hot, soft and alcoholic drinks throughout the day, with free Wi-Fi, and the comfiest sofas in town, we have been a favourite hangout to many a Fringe-goer over the years.

Whether you're looking for a midday snack in between two comedy shows, a chilled out corner to sit back and chat to friends or a busy late-night pint, the Fat Cat Café's doors are always open.
