The Improverts are back – in fact, they never left. Edinburgh’s resident improvised comedy troupe return to the Fringe for more late-night hilarity as the players perform spontaneous sketches based entirely on audience suggestions. Different combinations of players and games each night guarantee an hour of truly original quick-witted comedy. It’s cheap, hilarious comedic brilliance, and best of all, it’s all down to you. Always different, always funny.

'A wonderfully accomplished hour of improvisation that is both intelligently comic and joyously silly.' Four Stars Broadway Baby

'A breathtakingly confident display of improvised comedy – these guys are good.' Four Stars Scotsgay

"Quick wits and professionalism"
The U-Review
Edinburgh’s resident improv comedy troupe is always a hot ticket at the Fringe, and if you fancy a guaranteed late night laugh they are still a safe bet. The whole show has a very neat presentation, with a floor tap, blackout and sound cue signifying the end of every game. The only flaw in the system was the decision to end with a game where members of the audience could join in. There are few things more agonising than watching punters trying to out-funny the funny guys. In the finest game of the show, David Elms was a policeman interrogating Will Green, whose aim in the game was to guess his crime and punishment (he had smothered Super Mario with candy floss and would have to cuddle Michael Barrymore). While all the performers were adept at off the cuff humour these two were the most accomplished. Green’s knack for more physical comedy and characterisation meant that he could improvise with the full body; Elms was unmatched in his delicately subtle, bone dry delivery of some of the funniest witticisms of the night. What make The Improverts unique are their tech team, who are as on the ball as the performers onstage, signing off each game with music relating directly to the content of the scene. Unlike some improv shows, there is no theme or fluid through-line to the evening but, thanks to their quick wits and professionalism, The Improverts remain on the higher end of the improv scene regardless.
